Studio Voltaire plays an important role in the production of contemporary art through the provision of artist workspace and residencies.
Many of our gallery commissions include a production residency where artists produce the work onsite, often responding to the gallery’s unique architecture.
Recent artists in residence have included: Ella Kruglyanskaya, Judith Bernstein, Nairy Baghramian, Henrik Olesen and Nicole Eisenman.
Previous residency partnerships have included: Berlin Senate, Collective Gallery, Edinburgh, Outset/Royal College of Arts and Goethe Institut, London.
Studio Voltaire offers affordable studios in a good location in central Clapham with easy access to public transport and local amenities. Our key objective is to create a supportive and critical atmosphere to develop diverse artistic practices. We regret that we can only offer studio spaces to artists working within the parameters of contemporary art practice. Studio Voltaire is an organisation with an artist led ethos. We require a proactive input from our studio license holders.
Applications for studios must be submitted by emailing a complete Studio Application form to firstname.lastname@example.org along with an artist statement about your practice, a current CV, and 6 recent images of your work or links to relevant material. Please write ‘Studio Application’ in the subject header.
Applicants will be informed if they have been successful in joining the waiting list. When a studio becomes available we will review expressions of interest in available studios and offer a license and Associate membership to an artist that we believe will best meet Studio Voltaire’s artistic and charitable objectives.
