Teachers’ Training Day

Join us for a Teachers’ Training Day for education and youth workers in Lambeth, hosted in partnership with ELEVATE.  This free Teachers’ Training Day will equip you with practical, creative activities you can use in your setting to explore identity and heritage with your students.

You will:

  • Meet other Lambeth-based artists and educators
  • Gain new creative skills
  • Build your creative confidence
  • Explore identity and heritage

This workshop is free for Lambeth-based educators and youth workers. Lambeth will provide a £150 contribution towards the costs of supply cover for Lambeth teachers. The session will start with a tour of Studio Voltaire. You will get to meet practising artists, see their studios, and find out more about Studio Voltaire’s school offer.  Lunch will be provided by Juliet’s Cafe followed by an afternoon of inspiring artist-led workshops:

  • Holly Graham works predominantly with print and audio, much of her work explores the ways memory and narrative shape collective history.
  • Maya Campbell will lead you through an activity incorporating creative writing and smartphone photography to explore identity and heritage.
  • Tereza Araujo’s image theatre technique will help us physically express our ideas.
  • Laurie Fitzgerald will take you on an exploration of colour and texture that you can recreate in your classroom.

Throughout the day, Linett Kamala, an experienced artist and educator will be on hand to offer ideas and support on developing activities to suit your students.
